U21 School for Sustainable Policy Leadership

Maryland Global is pleased to invite University of Maryland graduate students to apply for the U21 School for Sustainable Policy Leadership, hosted by McMaster University (Canada). This immersive, in-person program brings together graduate students from across the Universitas 21 (U21) network to build practical skills in sustainability policy, leadership and global collaboration.

Program Overview

The U21 School for Sustainable Policy Leadership is designed to help postgraduate students develop the skills and experience to analyze, design and implement impactful sustainability policies. The program includes keynote lectures, workshops, field visits, case study analysis and collaborative project work.

Highlights may include:

  • Interactive sessions with sustainability academics from across the U21 network
  • Guided tours and field visits focused on sustainability and low-carbon systems, including campus sustainability initiatives
  • A real-world case study connected to McMaster’s Net Zero Carbon Roadmap
  • Collaborative teamwork and an international peer network

How to Apply

Eligibility

Open to qualified graduate students from the University of Maryland with an interest in sustainability policy and cross-disciplinary collaboration (students from all disciplines are encouraged).

Cost & Financial Aid

  • Program costs are covered by U21 and McMaster University.
  • Participants are responsible for travel, accommodation, and subsistence (meals/incidentals).
  • $500 UMD scholarship for participating students to support travel and accommodation expenses.
