This is a collaborative effort with partners across campus, welcoming suggestions for potential speakers.

Our Past Speakers
Daniel Mulhall is a former Ambassador of Ireland to the United States. He has also been Ireland's Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Germany and Malaysia. In August 2017, Ambassador Mulhall arrived in Washington, DC when he was officially installed as Ambassador to the US. In March 2022 New York University announced that after his retirement from the Department of Foreign Affairs in August 2022 Mulhall would become global distinguished professor in Irish studies, teaching an undergraduate seminar, "Literature as History: Ireland 1880-1940".Mulhall is Parnell Fellow at Magdalene College, Cambridge for 2022–23.
An international writer, commentator, and former Foreign Affairs editor, Dr. Naim served as the editor-in-chief of Foreign Policy Magazine for 14 years (1996-2010). He is the former Minister of Trade and Industry for Venezuela, Director of its Central bank, and Executive Director of the World Bank. Naím is the founder and chairman of the Group of Fifty and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Inter-American Dialogue and the World Economic Forum.
Dr. Helen Lowman is senior advisor to the Peace Corps and adjunct professor of Public Administration at Texas State University. From 2017 to 2022, she was president and CEO of the national nonprofit, Keep America Beautiful. Prior to joining Keep America Beautiful, Helen served as an appointee of the President of the United States in the senior foreign service and the senior executive service at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Peace Corps.
Peter Bodde is a former U.S. Ambassador to Libya before his retirement in 2017, He has previously served as the U.S. Ambassador to Nepal and as the U.S. Ambassador to Malawi, during which time he was credited for promoting awareness of HIV/AIDS discrimination. He is a University of Maryland Alumni with a bachelor degree in government and politics.
