Transforming Education for Good CFP
The College of Education and Global Learning Initiatives announce a joint call for proposals to redesign and develop courses in a Global Classrooms format. All EdTerp community members interested in adding global elements to their course are encouraged to submit an application.
Project Focus
The College of Education in partnership with the Global Learning Initiatives Office (GLI) in
the Office of International Affairs are pleased to announce a Call for Proposals under the
University of Maryland (UMD) Global Classrooms Program. Global Classroom courses
offer UMD students the opportunity to participate virtually in engaging, impactful, and
easily accessible credit-bearing international experiences that mirror in process, means,
and impact the type of professional interactions that they will encounter upon graduation.
Teams combining students from UMD and partner universities abroad will engage in
cross-cultural, project-based, technology-mediated work, aimed at developing
global educators with an ethical, effective, and informed global justice lens. EDUC
faculty who have no prior experience running global classrooms are highly encouraged
to apply. This call is connected to the college’s strategic priority to expand global
engagement and global classrooms for its students.
Funding and Eligibility
Applicant eligibility
Any EDUC UMD PTK or TTK faculty is eligible to apply under this Call for Proposals. For team-based applications, key personnel can include UMD graduate students and full time or part time staff, as long as the principal applicant satisfies the eligibility requirement, and the role of each additional team member is clearly explained and vital for the success of the project.
Partner institution eligibility
Under the auspices of this Call, “Partner Institution” refers to a foreign, accredited institution of higher education with which UMD or one of its departments, schools or colleges holds or can form a valid international agreement before the course is offered (memorandum of understanding, exchange agreement, academic cooperation agreement, research agreement, etc.). UMD is one of the Universitas 21 institutions which could be a potential pathway for the building of new partnerships. You do not need to have a finalized partnership with another institution when you submit your pre-proposal. Please browse the Global UMD database of international agreements to identify potential partners or check the status of particular partnerships.
