Course Details
This course will present an overview of the main theoretical, policy, and practice-related issues on disability and educational systems today. It will include lectures, discussions, and invited guest speakers from different countries to enhance students' understanding of disability in/exclusion in various educational systems. The course will also cover the history of the international disability movement and the development of disability inclusion at the higher education level.

Faculty Highlight

Dr. Luanjiao Hu
Luanjiao Hu was doctoral student at the University of Maryland (UMD), with a focus on disability studies, gender studies, and education for people with disabilities. She identifies as a person with disability herself. She has conducted research and published on disability issues and has been teaching sessions in a core course on disability education. Luanjiao frequently shares her research on disabilities as a guest speaker at universities across the United States and China. In 2017, she was awarded the Disability Research Consortium Summer Fellowship. In 2015, she gave a talk on disability and education at a TEDx Maryland conference. LuanJiao is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in International Education Policy at the University of Maryland, from where she holds a master’s degree in the same field. She completed her undergraduate studies at Xi’an International Studies University.
