Immigrant Origin Students
The University of Maryland is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students, including undocumented students. Undocumented students, who often face barriers and challenges as they navigate campus policies, require support services that address their unique needs.
Immigrant and undocumented students seeking assistance with the ISSS checklist or to connect with campus resources contact Jody Heckman Bose at heckmanj@umd.edu. For students who are interested in basic needs support, we encourage you to reach out to the Thrive Center for Essential Needs at thrive@umd.edu where staff who have experience working on all student issues, including immigrant and undocumented issues, are able to assist you.
Legal Aid for Immigration Issues
The Undergraduate and Graduate Legal Aid offices at UMD offer free, confidential 30-minute consultations with an immigration attorney for currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students with immigration-related concerns. Please note, however, that this service does not include legal representation. Visit the Legal Aid website for more information and to schedule a virtual appointment.
