Course Details
In this seminar-style course, students will explore the concept and practice of leadership and the identity of a leader in a complex, dynamic, and interconnected world. We will examine the benefits and limitations of dominant Western notions of leadership while learning about leadership ideas and approaches from diverse cultural contexts. Through a combination of discussions, activities, and guest speakers from different parts of the world, students will gain firsthand insights into global leadership practices and challenges.
The course emphasizes what it means to engage in socially responsible leadership in a global context and encourages reflection on personal capacity and growth opportunities for developing cultural competence and global citizenship. Students will also have the opportunity to co-construct portions of the course content by selecting and researching a global leadership challenge of interest, designing interactive learning modules, and teaching a class session to share their findings with their peers.
