U21 Global Leadership Program
Spring 2027 Applications Will Open in September
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The U21 Global Leadership program is open to emerging leaders from academic and professional disciplines in the U21 membership network. The program reflects the dynamic challenges in our institutions and the leadership required to individually and collectively navigate this new context.
Four UMD faculty and staff will be nominated to participate in the 2027 cohort. The programme takes place over the course of 4 weeks which includes a blend of engaging self-directed online content and short interactive live sessions – delivered in two time zones. Upon completion of the programme which includes a short reflective process, participants will receive a digital micro-credential.
Leaders from around the U21 network, as well as from other sectors, have contributed to the course content. The course has a strong international flavour and has been designed to complement any local leadership training being at UMD.

The U21 Global Leadership Program is to new and emerging leaders who are employed full-time at UMD- College Park.
In addition to the opportunity to earn a digital micro-credential, you will also gain:
- Broadened global horizons
- Connections with peers who share similar challenges
- Increased confidence in facing current and future challenges
- Enhanced understanding of the skills and mindset required for more effective collaboration and adaptation
The upcoming cohort for the Global Leadership Program will take place during Feburary- March 2027, with applications opening in September 2026.
Participant commitment will be approximately 2-5 hours per week for four weeks, comprised of:
- 1 hour live session per week
- 1-4 hours per week of Individual work (depending on pace and level engagement with resources provided) The live sessions will run:
