MissionThe ISAB is a group of international student representatives selected to serve as a sounding board for ISSS and other campus units. Members are expected to foster and maintain strong relationships with international student organizations and UMD international students to understand their lived experience and challenges.

ISSS communications to academic departments about immigration regulations for international scholars and faculty.

UMD will support petitions for permanent residency provided the faculty position is considered tenure-track/permanent. ISSS files applications for EB-1-2 Outstanding Professor or Researcher or EB-2 Members of the professions holding advanced degrees.

ISSS has sole responsibility to approve appointments of non-immigrants at the University of Maryland, College Park in the Payroll & Human Resources (PHR) system.
