Inclusive and Safe Global Communities

Near and far, our teams' commitment to creating a culture of safety and inclusivity continued to be unwavering.

The International Risk Management Team made important strides in enhancing safety and risk management practices for all UMD travelers. Through the new Travel Safety portal, cross-campus collaborations, and engagement in external activities, Maryland Global demonstrates UMD’s ongoing commitment to supporting the health, safety, and wellbeing of the university community during international travel.

International Student Support Fund

Learn more about this newly established fund.

In 2023, Assistant Director for Engagement and Inclusion Programs Rebeca Moreno joined the ISSS team to help strengthen our international community on campus through special events, career workshops, and language support initiatives and volunteer opportunities to foster leadership skills.

To support international students experiencing hardship due to a crisis in their home country, ISSS launched a new fund providing assistance with essential living necessities to help students focus on their studies and wellbeing.

The ISSS team also collaborated with Enrollment Management on a recruitment trip to India, a key source of prospective international students and scholars for our campus, also strengthening our ties with Terp alumni currently living and working in India across Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Delhi.
