International Students at UMDOur dashboard provides a snapshot of international student enrollment at UMD.  It consists of three tabs. Each has options to filter data by the fall term, visa group (F-1, J-1, Other Visas), and/or country of citizenship.  Click on a tab below to view the corresponding data.

Exchange Visitor Category

As a J-1 Exchange Visitor, you can teach, conduct research, share special skills, study or receive on-the-job training at UMD. Your program can last from a few weeks to up to five years.The U.S. Department of State authorizes the University of Maryland's International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) to sponsor the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program.The program's goal is for participants to share academic ideas and research. It also aims to promote increased mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries.

H-1B: Transfer in to UMDOnce you receive an offer letter, the department will submit an H-1B request to ISSS in iTerp.An ISSS advisor will reach out to you and the department to schedule a kickoff meeting to review the H-1B process and your immigration history.
