Tip of the Week
Two months before the start of every semester, the ISSS office sends out Tip of the Week emails to newly admitted F-1/J-1 students. These emails answer important questions about the university, explain processes you need to complete, and prepare you to begin your studies with UMD.This webpage will be updated with the Spring 2026 "Tip of the Week" emails as they are published.

Notice of Filing of Labor Condition Application
In compliance with Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration’s requirements (20 CFR 655) for employers petitioning for non-immigrant work visas, the links below lists positions for which the University of Maryland intends to hire non-immigrant employees under the classification of H-1B Specialty Worker. International Student Fee
UMD charges a per semester fee to enrolled international students issued an I-20 or DS-2019. The fee allows our office to enhance and expand our services to international students and their families.
