A Foundation in Global Health: Mia's First-Year Experience in Greece

Program: Exploring the Mediterranean Diet and Its Impact on Health
Term: Summer 2025
Major: Global Health

I loved my study abroad experience. For me, the most rewarding aspect was stepping out of my shell. I am a planner. I thrive on routine and combing through details. Participating in the program helped me to let go and embrace adaptability. Sometimes the best experiences are the ones we can't prepare for!

One of the best parts about my experience is that my program fits seamlessly into my academic trajectory. I am a Global Health student, and the major requires 6 credits of experiential learning. Participating in this study abroad experience allowed me to earn 3 of those credits as a first-year student!

We tend to romanticize things that we are excited about. As my trip was approaching, I was daydreaming and planning up a storm about what my experience would be like. My biggest piece of advice would be to let go of those preconceived notions and embrace the experience for what it is. The things you expect could hold you back from the things that you need!
