As the Assistant Director for Engagement and Inclusion Programs, Dr. Moreno is responsible for leading, developing, and implementing programs that educate and engage the international community at the University of Maryland, enacting the OIA-ISSS commitment to DEI.
Before joining the ISSS team, she served as the Associate Dean of International Education and held a visiting faculty position at Washington College. Along with supervising the Global Education Office's operations, she established and taught the College’s first virtual exchange program and guided internationalization efforts during her tenure.
Throughout her career as an educator, Dr. Moreno has taught undergraduate courses in Spanish language and Latin American Literature and Culture at Washington College, Middlebury College Language Schools, American University, and the University of Maryland. She has led multiple study abroad programs for UMD in Latin America and Spain. Additionally, she has served as a consultant for the U.S. Department of State’s Foreign Service Institute, coordinating and teaching Central America and Spanish Caribbean training seminars for foreign service professionals.
She holds a B.A. in public communications from the Universidad de Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras, and obtained an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Maryland, College Park.
