The Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) is an independent scholarship provider that is not affiliated with the University of Maryland. FEA awards scholarships of up to $10,000 and provides ongoing support to undergraduate students with financial need who face barriers to studying abroad. Start your application and learn more here!


One Application, Many Opportunities

With just one application, you’ll be considered for all FEA scholarships for which you are eligible, including the FEA General Scholarship.


Eligibility Requirements

To apply for an FEA scholarship, you must:

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or DACA recipient
  • Be enrolled as an undergraduate at a U.S. college or university (graduate students are not eligible)
  • Receive academic credit from your home institution for your study abroad program
  • Be studying abroad for at least 14 days
  • Have demonstrated financial need


How Financial Need Is Determined

FEA uses your most recent FAFSA to assess financial need. You qualify if any of the following apply:

  • Your Student Aid Index (SAI) is below 20,000
  • You are eligible for a Pell Grant
  • You have taken out any student loans for the current academic year
